About Kim Deaton Gregson

LMFT, MMFT

Kim grew up in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. She spent years of her life canoeing, hiking, fishing and camping, and still enjoys these activities. With experience leading youth groups, tutoring middle and high school students, and teaching high school, she still thoroughly enjoys developing relationships with youth and college students. Cooking, hosting dinners at her home, and enjoying the outdoors (from hiking & fishing to football & baseball games) are now her passions.

Kim is married to Jacob Gregson, a field engineer with a commercial construction group in Birmingham. Jacob is from Arkansas (a huge Razorback fan!) and was Kim's college sweetheart.

Education

Kim received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math Education, with a Minor in Biblical Studies from Harding University in Searcy, AR. She also holds a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University.,/p>

Having taught high school mathematics for one year, Kim decided her passion was counseling families, couples and individuals, and thus has been practicing counseling for the past 3 years. Kim is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

She has been a counselor for Samaritan for almost one year, and is thrilled with the camaraderie, Spirit-focused approach, and broad opportunities to counsel in numerous settings. Kim particularly enjoys working with families and married couples dealing with parenting issues, divorce transitions, disconnected/conflicted marriages, and other life adjustments.

She is passionate about working with pre-adolescents, teens, and young women--focusing on issues of anxiety, depression, self-injury, eating disorders, and trauma, among others.
