About Caroline Nichols

LCSW, PIP

Caroline is a Birmingham native and aside from five wonderful years in Tuscaloosa, she has lived in Birmingham her whole life. She is the oldest of four children and the only girl.

Brothers in tow, Caroline grew up spending time outdoors, playing lots of sports and learning about all things college football! Caroline enjoys gardening, playing tennis, waterskiing, painting, cooking and entertaining. In her free time, she loves spending time with friends and family and traveling.

Education

Caroline received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Alabama. After college, she went on to obtain her Master of Social Work, with a concentration in Mental Health, from Alabama and is a Licensed Certified Social Worker in the State of Alabama.

Caroline also holds a certification as a Private Independent Practitioner. In addition to her social work degrees, Caroline is also a Juvenile Sexual Offender Certified Counselor (JSOCC.) This very specialized certification allows her to work with children and adolescents that have been classified as sexual offenders/perpetrators.

Clinical Experience

Caroline has over 10 years clinical experience in the counseling field. A true love and desire to minister to those in need has been present since high school and it was then that she began her experience in a volunteer capacity with various organizations in Birmingham and throughout the state. From there she has worked in many different capacities ranging from therapeutic foster care to counseling families navigating the devastating world of childhood cancer.

Caroline has been in private practice for three years. In addition to her private practice in Birmingham, Caroline also serves as the Director of Counseling Services at Judson Women's College in Marion, Alabama. At Judson, she provides counseling services to faculty, staff and students. She also facilitates a divorce recovery group sponsored by Brookwood Baptist Church.

Caroline has a strong clinical background in working with women's issues, eating disorders, trauma, anxiety and depression, sexual abuse, relationship issues, addiction, co-dependency, divorce transitions, and parent/child conflict. Caroline enjoys working with children, adolescents, individuals and families.

She is passionate about working with and empowering women of all ages. Caroline provides marital and pre-marital counseling and loves working with families. She also offers an ongoing group for women dealing with relationship issues. Caroline is available for speaking engagements.
